Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is the martial art and combat sport that has revolutionized the way we think about self-defense. Throughout the early 90’s the Gracie family dominated the early Ultimate Fighting Championships to demonstrate the effectiveness of grappling against traditional martial arts. After the Gracie family exposed the vulnerability of traditional martial arts to the dominant aspect of ground fighting, the world of martial arts was forever changed. Because Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches principles of leverage and proper technique, even a smaller, weaker person can defend themselves quickly and effectively even against larger and stronger opponents. BJJ training offers the student valuable self-defense skills, access to sport grappling tournaments, a competitive edge in mixed martial arts, and extraordinary fitness levels - especially for those who are looking to compete. |
